The
Turkish Folklore Association, founded in 1964, aims to make collections,
researches and surveys on Turkish Folklore, to form performance groups
to present folk dances, to help tourism by presentation activities,
both home and abroad, to teach folklore to younger generations and
to publish scientific works on Turkish Folklore.

personel ( university students, businessmen, teachers, lawyers, managers,
etc.) working with an amatur spirit, is the main force of our society
in continuing these activities for 42 years. |

The Press and Publishing Department of Folklor Kurumu publicates every month a magazine named “Folklor” which includes many items and information on Turkish Folklore and is delivered both home and abroad.
The Foreign Affairs Department organizes every year an International Folklore Festival , the participation of the folk dance / folk music group in international festivals and other cultural activities abroad.

The regional folkdance categories are as follows: Ağrı, Afyon, Anamur, Artvin, Bitlis, Erzurum,Gaziantep, İzmir, Karadeniz(Trabzon-Akçaabat),Kars, Kırklareli, Silifke, Üsküp, Van Also, Folklor Kurumu has an archive, formed by our Collection and Research Department, consisting 15.000 pages of collection on folklore, many ethnographical materials , tapes and records of authentic Turkish Folk Music.Folklor Kurumu will continue to present Turkish Folklore in festivals, both home and abroad, succesfully with its folk dance and folk music shows.
The Social Interaction Department organizes social-cultural activities aiming to interact different cultural groups
