6nd INTERNATIONAL CULTURE AND ART FESTIVAL
JULY 2005
CONDİTİONS
1- Groups
must consist of 25 - 30 participants and they must be adult.
2- Groups should arrive Istanbul on July, 2005.
3- During the festival all groups will stay in youth hostels.
4- Food and beverage will be provided by the festival committee.
5- Gasoline charges between Turkish borders will be paid by the
festival committee.
6- Festival committee will pay $3.00 / person as pocket money.
7- There will be visits to museums and historical places during
the free times with a guide provided by the committee.
8- All groups must be accompanied by a participants who can speak
English in order to communicate easily.
9- The performances during the festival will be 3 - 5 min. for the
parade time, 10 min. shows on the stage and 30 min. for the long
performance. All shows must be based on folk dances and music must
be life at the time of performances.
10- All groups must join the folkloric market in which each group
will sell it's traditional materials such as handicraft products.
Each group will have a stand in this folkloric market.
11- All groups are requested to give some folkloric materials to
the archive of Turkish Folklore Association for the exhibition.
CONDITIONS
OF THE COMPETITION:
1. Participating
groups will present their performances on a Competition Day that
will be chosen by the festival committee.
2. To determine the order of the groups presentations, a lottery
will be held in the presence of their representatives on the day
before the competition.
3. Competing groups will present traditional dances, wearing authentic
costumes and playing authentic instruments.
4. Each group will present a performance of not less than 7 minutes,
and not more than 11 minutes. If the performance is too short or
too long, points will be deducted.
5. Each group will have a representative in the Jury. A Jury member
will not be able to grade his or her own group's performance.
6. Grading will be based on two criteria:
a. Performance, which will be graded by the Jury. Faults in the
dancing, the music, and the staging will lead to deductions from
a group's basic score. The highest and lowest scores awarded by
Jury members will be discarded before the results are totaled.
b. Attitude (i.e., each group's behavior, timing according to festival
program, effort on the minor performances, relations with the other
groups from arrival till the moment of competition), which will
be graded by the Festival Committee and the guides of the groups.
All faults will deduct from 100 points.
7. The Festival Committee's attitude scores will be declared to
the jury immediately following the competition. Results will be
calculated adding 30% of the attitude point to 70% of the performance
point.
8. The highest -scoring groups will receive the following cash prizes:
First prize is 1000 $,
Second prize is 750$,
Third prize is 500$
Two honorable mention prizes of 250$.
9. Participation will be limited to visiting groups from other countries.
Turkish groups will not participate in the competition.
